Zip drives, huh? Great! Put a minimal OS9 install on a Zip disk and boot
your Beige G3 off of it to use strictly for file sharing. Should work fine
-- unless there are things I don't understand about your system (didn't
realize there could be such issues).

I'll give Word 5 a go on my end and see if we can figure this out. As for
the experience ... I agree. I find working on an old Mac is somewhat
Zen-like. The computer is so much a part of my day-to-day working life that
I find these old Macs actually provide some relief from the computer as a
workhorse and return it to Steve Job's original vision of computer as
personal liberator. Just don't say there's not much you can "do" on it.
There are several other early versions of programs that I run on my modern
Mac which I use on my 512k which I prefer to the new ones -- again it's
comforting. Like taking a '65 Mustang out for a spin -- it's nowhere near as
powerful as the later models and it has none of the conveniences or handling
of a modern vehicle, but it gets the job done and boy does it feel good!

Cheers!
