I used to have a Dell Inspiron and can also recommend Dell's service.
I'm currently lucky enough to have an Alienware gaming laptop, but
they don't have support in SA so I have to pray that nothing breaks :P

What you need to be aware of is that LCD screens have a "native"
resolution, and they will look fuzzy in any other resolution. If you
have a small screen with a high native resolution, you may get eye
strain. My Dell had a 15.4" screen at 1680x1050, and surprisingly
enough I could work on it very well, but I had to bump up the font
size if I was doing a lot of reading. I'm currently much happier with
a 17" screen at 1440x900, which is a good compromise between
readability and space. (Incidentally your laptop's native resolution
will not affect the resolution of any monitor/projector/TV you plug
into it)

Also, anything smaller than 17" will not come with a proper keyboard.
Small keyboards can be frustrating.

Laptops are notorious for overheating when you do something very CPU-
intensive e.g. 3D gaming. I strongly recommend buying a cooler. It's
essentially a little box with fans which sits under your laptop. I'm
using the Antec Notebook Cooler S, which is cheap, effective and USB-
powered (and also raises the keyboard to a more comfortable level),
but has to go on a desk - you can't use it on your lap.

Cheers
Gary
