Yeah, it really depends on what you want at the end of the day. If you 
want features, then something like the HP would beat the Dell. For me 
personally, the question is about support and service. IF something goes 
wrong (for example, a colleague's puppy peed on his Macbook Pro) then 
the service is all you care about.

I also have an Asus and a Toshiba. Both are fairly good machines. 
However, the Toshiba's power pack stopped working. Since Toshiba did not 
carry any spare parts for their laptops (that might changed), it took 6 
weeks to get a new power supply. Thus, if you earn money with your 
laptop, then factor in the price of not having the laptop available for 
6 weeks ...

Unfortunately, some of the damages to my laptop were self-inflicted. For 
example, a few weeks after getting my Dell, I stepped on the power cable 
and almost jerked the laptop off the table. It damaged the power 
connector at the back of the motherboard, thus rendering the laptop 
useless. The next business day, someone from Dell came and replaced the 
motherboard, even though the damage was 100% my fault.
