But Darktable is a:
   darktable is an open source photography workflow application and RAW
   developer. A virtual lighttable and darkroom for photographers. It
   manages your digital negatives in a database, lets you view them
   through a zoomable lighttable and enables you to develop raw images and
   enhance them.

Not a file handler.  Nor will it dial your telephone.  Why would you want
it to.  It is very simple to use existing tools/scripts to move your
photos from card to disk and rename them, then import to dt and work them.

And the dev's can spend time making the "photo" workings better rather
than trying to develop tools that already exist.

No, I don't want dt to become a file handler, I have midnight-commander.
