Delphi set the standard for RAD OO development 5 years ago, no question.
However it's competitors are catching rapidly. (I believe VB will even have
inheritance in it's next release!)

Your edge isn't Delphi and the prepackaged components included and the ones
you can buy. Your edge is your design and implementation skills, and your
experience and contacts. Delphi's IDE makes it easier, but in lieu of new
developments, that advantage is diminishing...

At NZ$5500 pa the MSDN Universal subscription seems to represent
comparitively remarkable value for money.

It includes 5 user licenses of the Enterprise versions of all the MS
development tools (?), all the Windows platforms, the MSDN library, Office,
Backoffice (including all editions of SQL Server). The international
edition includes foreign language versions of these where applicable, and
update CDs arrive on monthly as new versions become available.

Now I'm not saying Delphi isn't good - it's fantastic. But before I started
here I had no idea that this MSDN resource existed, much less of it's
comprehensive nature.

As they say, just my 2c worth.
