This last point is interesting. For about $10 years I was doing what you
now do, contracting but I was in Wellington and Auckland. I never had
illegal software on my computer but never had to buy it either. I was
given it. Microsoft, Essentially SW and TechPacific gave me software.
The rational was that if they treat the contractors well then the contractors
will like them and when these contractors had to purchase SW for the
current client then the contractor would use their company. It worked.
I got the SW I needed. They got more business.
Does this not happen now?
