It's since needed months of work from Brett and is just now almost ready.
In the meantime we needed a stable development place for other work, as almost all of the functionality other than a few simple plugins was not functional, so I created a stable branch and worked there. I find it very difficult to pick up code that someone else has worked on, for quite some time by themselves. I'm glad Brett's a better man than me in those circumstances. > I didn't have time to work on it and you wanted to get a release out so > I put the code in only have it subsequently reverted. I think it would've happened faster if you'd done the work in a branch to start off with, instead of on your machine in isolation. That way more people would have known what the changes were and what the outstanding issues were. It took me quite a while to work out what had changed and why. > But I still think the release of the 1.0 can go on. It's really such an > arbitrary thing at this point. We should have had a 1.0 release ages ago, but we got stuck in a never ending beta cycle. That and our lack of available time. > close as it has been to being entirely fixed but Brett and I are > basically redoing it now in a separate branch and I don't know how long > it will take. So can I from a core POV, but the single context and single plugin loading for multiple projects really has to get done. I realise you haven't had as much time as you like to contribute lately, and that I've been pushing things via Jira to get done in a semi-organised way. We really do need to agree on what the features are that are going to be in a release, and when it's complete, otherwise we're just going to go back to being in perpetual beta. I can't help but feel there are three groups of people working together here: 1) People trying to get 1.0 out the door. 2) People who've worked on maven-new. 3) People who want to enhance what 1.0 is now stabilised as. I want us all to work together in a coordinated way to bring Maven along. I know you do too, we just need some planning and organisation so we don't all tread on each others toes. -- dIon Gillard, Multitask Consulting Blog: http://blogs.codehaus.org/people/dion/ --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
