I am talking only about pages that will be linked to using the action
statements. Most visitors are expected to have a look at these pages as
well. Throwing them from one design in another, from minimalist to
maximalist, from business style to comic style is bad user experience, and
will leave users with a unprofessional impression.

The layout is very nice, the content is nice too, but I think we need to
make choices here. The choice now is overwhelming to anyone new. Just
imagine that you need help. The support page almost needs an instructor
telling them which support option is best. Not everyone will be happy to
see some support options getting LESS attention, but it is not about them,
it is about those in need of help.

On the other hand, the support page as it is is a very nice collection of
resources, and I wouldn't throw this page away, it is just not the page I
would want to show to anyone new to OOo, someone for whom we are designing
the home page.

There are two reasons why I want to design it at once:

1. Design consistency; we do not have extensive web design guidelines, and
I don't expect them to appear in the near future. Designers change (people
come and go, designers mature)
2. The website would be even more disappointing. As Christian(?) has put
it, a top first page will only make the subsequent pages look
uglier/worse. If we can't live up to the expectations, the overall
improvement may become a negative one.
