Hi Ivan--
I have been quite remiss at looking at what's going here but working
madly away on something that will effect the home page as well <sigh>.
Not looks, just some extensive JS that will be added...so, a quick question.
When do anticipate going live with this so we don't trample on each
other's toes? I'll need to re-add what I've done obviously, and do
indeed plan to give this list a head's up.
This involves the java detection stuff. I've been kind of working with a
subgroup on testing etc.

Hi all, (a specific response to Andrea's email is below)
There has been a lot of discussion around this update, mostly on the
UX list, but thanks also to everyone who took the time to comment on
this list. As it stands, we're just about ready to launch. The latest
'sandbox' version can be found at
www.patentpending.co.nz/openoffice/test/home.htm
The new changes there are from suggestions on the UX list - there is
no more keyword highlighting, the action statement rollover behaviors
have been made more intuitive, and the download action statement can
be uncollapsed.
If there is something you don't like, please let me know within the
next 2-3 days. Thanks!

Hi Andrea,
Here's what I propose to be added:
* an id for the positioner div (the wrapper for the logo and heading)
* an id for the link that encases the logo image
* an id for the logo image
* an id for the positioner text
Is there anything else you'd like to be given an id?

I'm not sure about this, but it might be possible to override the logo
image by uploading a custom version to the branding folder - e.g.
Firefox tells me that the UI project's logo points to
http://ui.openoffice.org/branding/images/bannerlogo.png, not
openoffice.org/branding/images/bannerlogo.png as I expected it would.
So it seems that it can be overridden, as in the HTML, it points to
/branding/images/bannerlogo.png. Could you please give this a try to
confirm whether I'm right or wrong?
This seems actually true. Anyway, we as the Italian project are more
interested in replacing the link than the logo image itself.
I'm not sure how an id will allow you to replace the link...
javascript maybe? The example of sr.openoffice.org has replaced the
link of the logo to point back to their NL homepage... but it's not
the most elegant solution (duplicate HTML content). We can't change
the link to point to "/", because that would apply to project
sub-domains, which is not the behavior we want (e.g., clicking the
logo from ui.openoffice.org would take the user back to the UI project
homepage and not the OOo homepage). It's unfortunate that the
CollabNet framework introduces all these difficulties!
Anyway, thanks for your input, and if there's anything else that can
be added/changed to make life a little easier for NL projects, please
let me know :)
Regards,
Ivan.
