eh, personally, I think that effort is usually better spent meeting new contacts. Few certifications offer the "HR firewall" busting prowess of spending the same money/effort going to conferences and meeting people who might recommend you to their bosses. (my experience has been that the "HR firewall" crumbles pretty fast if you have an internal recommendation. On the other hand, there is some selection bias here; I have no degree and no certifications. I don't get to see companies with strong HR firewalls, because my resume gets binned right off.) But then, you did say it was best for 'entry level' folks, and eh, maybe for the entry level you are right. A cert and nothing else is a lot better than just nothing. A cert and some experience? personally, I'd rate a referral from someone I know (even someone I don't know that well) plus the same experience higher. _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.lopsa.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/discuss This list provided by the League of Professional System Administrators http://lopsa.org/
