Agree with the comments, but what has been done is not illegal (criminal or 
otherwise) based on the situation and current operating precedent in Canada.
Granted, it isn't an issue that is black and white or even applied consistently 
across the nation.

He is a member of the facility with no policies stating that he couldn't expect 
to do this activity in the Hackerspace (up till this point arguably). 

I just point this out because Alex seems to be a law abiding citizen (IMHO / in 
scope to this situation) :)
