I hope not, since that's what I use for all of my demo kits. Well,
either the WR54G or the WR54GL (the "open source" version). I haven't
seen anything out of the ordinary with those.

The fact that your laptop is showing a lower-than-expected data speed
means there is a reasonable chance that there is some external source
of interference. I'd try running NetStumbler (Windows) or iStumbler
(Mac) and take a look at the wireless networks in your area. See if
any routers/APs are sitting on your channel (with decent signal
strength)... if there are any, trying a channel as far away from the
ones with the strongest signals.

I can imagine it would be frustrating. I was certainly frustrated when
I couldn't keep the Controller, or any of my notebook computers
connected to my 2wire residential gateway. I finally turned off the
2wire wireless module and connected a WR54GL, which has been
solid-as-a-rock for me.

If I had any inspired ideas, I'd certainly share them. Hopefully,
you'll find a solution using one of the Stumbler apps. I can't think
of anything else right now.
