Just what I told you ! If your IS the B&W G3 rev A it's a well know
defect !! Only old HDs from 4 to 10 Go are usable I think. The cheap way
is to add ATA card and any new disk !!
But U never tell what is exactly your Mac !!!
Maybe ask them to sell you this working HD ?? it will be 20 or 30 $ ?
Anyway as you seems to own SCSI card (you told you own a syquest) it was
easy to save your data on external HD ...

If you own the BW rev1 this will fix just NOTHING as Apple just change
part for part (ie the same rev1 motherboard with the same crappy ide
controller)
I have seen some resellers telling it was necessary to change
MotherBoard .... and it was just necessary to reset it or change the 1 $
battery !!!

You're speaking about a Tower ... so there were 2 Towers : the beige one
and the Blue and white one ... As I told U previously if you own the blue
one rev1 NO modern disk will works on it !!! -> just add ATA Card and any
IDE HD, this will be around 100 $ with 80 or 120 Go HD ..... Or take a
look for second hand HD from 4 to 10 Go (maybe some old HDs from 20 to 40
Go will work too) this will just cost aroud 20 or 30 $ ...
