I wonder what the esteemed audience here thinks of RJ45. While they
aren't high current by any means
(1.5A 125V), they are lockable and  zillion working installations
proves their reliability day in and day out.

The standard RJ45 male plug is designed for solid wire, so not
suitable for any kind of movable connection,
but there  are RJ45 male crimp plugs that work with stranded Cat5, so
presumably they could be used with
equivalent stranded flexible cable.
