I have no trouble at all using smtp.mac.com while I am logged into an Earthlink dialup. I have to say I see this thread (and others in other lists) and I have no idea what you guys are talking about ;)
For my mac.com account, I have my mail sever set to mail.mac.com and my SMTP server set to smtp.mac.com (with the authentication option turned on, of course). I have an Earthlink dialin I use on the road and it works just fine - I don't have to switch anything. It also works fine from my Verizon DSL account at home (which I'm on now). The same is true fro my work email account. I use my company's smtp server for that account no matter how I'm connected: Earthlink dialup or Verizon DSL. I NEVER change my smtp settings - ever. -Steve On 2/23/02 4:15 PM, "Allen Watson" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > On or near 2/22/02 4:40 PM, Robyn Phillips at [EMAIL PROTECTED] > observed: > >>> As a counter-balance: While I find it a bit annoying that I can't send mail >>> via smtp.mac.com, Earthlink access is virtually everywhere. >> I do send my mac.com email via smtp.mac.com when I am logged into Earthlink. >> The only times I have had problems is when mac.com has problems.
