As far as I, or anybody, has been able to ascertain, there are no
current plans to produce such a lens. to me, it wouldn't make much
sense to buy this lens, since it has such a great degree of overlap with
the 28-135 IS, which I already own. What I'd like to see is an upgrade
of the current 75-300, possibly a 100-300, consumer lens to get image
quality and build quality roughly at the level of the 28-135. Super
sharp "L" glass is not necessary for what do, but the 75-300 IS isn't
up to even my relaxed standards. But the 100-400 IS is to heavy and too
pricey for my use.
