Well, it probably depends on several things.
- Where you live
- What film you use
- Where you buy your film
I can get good slide film (Sensia 100 II) here for max 7 DM per 36 exp roll.
That's about US $3.50 and includes processing! (although not at a pro lab)
I call that cheap. Cheap compared to the other costs for photography or
for getting to a location. Not all films are that cheap, though. Professional
films like Provia 100F cost a lot more and they aren't all that cheap anymore,
although still cheap compared to the other costs. IOW, I'll always shoot an
extra roll or two instead of risking to have to go to the location once more.
Then again, I'm not a pro and don't shoot all *that* much. I couldn't afford
shooting 10 rolls of film every day without getting a single penny paid for
it. But I can afford shooting maybe 4-5 rolls every other weekend.
