Hi Gerard,
You reminded me of the suggestions to change the orientation of the
tilt-shift mechanism on the TS-E 24mm f/3.5 L
If you are committed to hacking, a simpler (and undo-able) alternative
might be to remove the four screws the EF Lens mount, replacing them
with longer screws of the same size.
You could then use washers or spacers to get the desired 6mm extension.
Then use black tape to cover the "bellows" you just constructed.
