Hello Collyer,
The 1.6 ft is official Canon spec, but the lens can physically
focus down to 1.11 ft !
Did you also know the EOS 1v can only focus on vertical detail at
f/5.6 with the EF 28-135 ?
And that only with fast lenses, like the 17-35, the high precision
focus sensor is activated.
