Based on his earlier comments I think he ment 2-3 feet
which still is more than what the 28-135 is capable to do.
But remember, the EF28-135 at 135mm and focused down to 0.5
meters is no more a 135mm lens, I bet it is less than 100mm.
Even though I have owned the FD zoom (80-200, L version) I
don't know if it behaves the same way or not.
