Homescanning is slow but usually not *that* slow.
I use Minolta Scan Elite (2820dpi, ~1000USD ?) which has ICE (for
dust and scratch removal) and it works great. I checked once if ICE
has negative effect in image quality but didn't see anything real
with that one slide. In dust removal ICE really is great! So no more
dust spotting...
When I do my standard 1410 dpi scans I often get about 20 done in
one hour, sometimes less depending on how much I play with histograms
and curves at scanning phase.
