If my memory is right (It has been 10 years since I shot Nikon) the SB system worked best on the newer cameras. It was superb on my F4 using the SB24...I'd imagine that it is even better with an F5 and SB28...but who knows, maybe they have gone downhill. And I have yet to use the Canon EX flashes on a "modern" camera. The only film EOS bodies I have are old 1n's and EOS D60. TTL on the D60 is horrendous.
