It's very hard to tell that a box has been opened and the lens shown, or if
it is bought and returned.  I have no qualms about buying a lens in a box
that may have been opened, since there is no seal on Canon boxes.
How do you know that the box you receive from an online dealer hasn't been
opened and returned?  If all the books and packing are present, you don't,
do you?
I didn't intend to start an argument here, I was just pointing out an
advantage of supporting your local retailer.  Geez.
