While I would like to get a brand new un-touched lens too, especially if I
was spending good money, even the biggest store may not have a demo of
everything.

The biggest camera store chain in Toronto (Jim you know this place), He**y's
Camera, was not able to do so on a EF20-35 lens, and this was their downtown
flagship store! In fact, I was all set to buy this lens there two years ago
until the salesperson, for reasons unknown, gave me an abrasive response
that "I am not going to open the box unless you are going to buy the lens",
at which point I brought the EOS-3 with the EF28-135 and 550EX out of the
camera bag, only then did he bring the lens off the shelf and out of the
box......

Not only did I not buy the lens (strictly due to his extremly poor
attitude), he's lucky I didn't send the snap shot of his face (taken with
the lens!) to the management with a complaint letter.

But that's too way off topic from EOS gears.....

Regards,

Ken
