Gary, my suggestion is to buy the 420. The biggest feature, in my opinion,
of the 550 is it's ability to master a group of flashes. A group of one is
not so exciting. With one flash you might as well get the 420. Later if you
want to fire more than one flash the 550 makes sense. It makes a great
second flash, but overrated as a first flash.
