Ken, if I had to use slaves for the shooting I am being asked to do, I would just as soon set up my portable studio lighting equipment - it has wireless slave capability and a modeling light.

All I want is a reasonably powerful Canon dedicated (preferably a Canon) flash that my EOS D30 can take advantage of. I think the consensus seems to be that the 420 EX is my best value.
