If money's an issue, it's pretty easy. Go for the 420EX. If you're only using 1 flash, there's no difference 98% of the time. The 2% is when you're really reaching to shoot something far away and you need the bit of extra power; it almost never happens. (I think it's happened to me zero times because in that case I use a master and slave.)
