To summarize, in case some still don't understand all
the things that go into pricing:

1. Retail prices are established by local importers,
not by Canon Japan.

2. European countries, in general, have far higher
import duties than the U.S. does.

3. European and Japanese prices typically include
VAT, U.S. prices don't include taxes.

4. Actual selling prices are set by dealers based on
many factors, including supply, demand, cost, and
competitive factors.

5. The lack of import duties between U.S. and Canada
has nothing to do with the price of Japanese cameras
in Canada, which are imported from Asia, and not from
the U.S.

In short, don't blame America or Canon for the fact
that prices are higher in your country. Blame your
own governments and importers.
