Regarding the windows: Mine has a rubber seal all around and no screws. I figure it must be great to kick them out if the plane is ever wrong way up and I have to get out through the back window. Someone on this website toppled over in the snow about a year ago and had to get out this way. Probably good to do fast if the header tank starts to leak gas all over you.
I would not drill holes and use screws if you don't have to. The rubber gasket seems like the usual stuff they use for holding in emergency windows in busses and other vehicles.
I would check with an auto parts or automotive glass company for the rubber gasket.
