There/s also the little matter of reliability. It's really tough to match 
the factory EVs for that.   

OTOH, from what I can tell, there's not much a shadetree mechanic can do on 
a factory EV. They seem to be "walled gardesn."  The good news is that you 
have a dealer to service it for you. The bad news is that you almost have to 
have a dealer to service it for you.
