Eric,

In regards to trying those new drivers, I have tried
them and I have had some issues with KDE. In
particular there were quite a few people in the
linuxgames.com forums having issues with Mandrake 8.0.

I haven't tried it yet, but it was recommended in
those forums to compile from source instead of using
their mandrake rpms. It is also said that /usr/lib
should be added to the ldconfig file. I was told
about that for the 9-769 drivers as well. People are
saying that mandrake doesn't include that by default
and it can sometimes cause issues with the nvidia
drivers. I haven't confirmed this yet, but if you'll
be working on this over the weekend, this info may
help.

Good luck with your stability issues. My mandrake 8.0
has been solid (until yesterday with the newest nvidia
problems...which I will fix).
