John, I haven't looked at the GCR recently, but I think the reason you can't find a definitive statement is because they don't care. As long as you have a brace no more than 6" down from the top of the roll bar with gausset.
The bracing in the cockpit area is to stiffen up the chassis in that area. The Master Kill switch should be located on the right side of the car facing out and just behind the main roll hoop.
