Additionally the front facing brace must be at an angle greater than 30
deg to the main hoop.

Gussets and a 30 degree brace are OK then? Because that will help get me some more space. I would be much more comfortable with that arrangement.

Can you explain the gusset thing a bit?

As I read it, I need 3/16 plates with minimum 2 inch legs. They need to be welded to the front and main hoop, but I'm not sure it they are to be placed at the point where the hoops meet both the top and bottom frame rail or if is only where the hoops meet the top rail.

Also, I'm not sure whether these gussets can be placed ahead and behind the main and front hoops respectively or whether they need to be ahead of the main hoop amd behind the front hoop.

1. 1" x 0.080 minimum steel tubing (DOM)

I'd just use the 1.25 inch bracing that I already have there, so that won't be a problem.

3. > 30 deg included angle to the rear roll hoop

I'm not sure what the "included" part means. I suspect that it has something to do with the existing angle of the main hoop. Mine is off vertical by about 10 degrees canted rearward. So do I ignore this "included" term and set the brace 30 deg. off vertical? Or do I simply make the brace 30 degrees off the main hoop?

4. Upper attachment point no more than 6" from top of roll hoop

No problem.

5. Forward Facing

No problem.

Another possibility I can see involves bending the braces some. Can there be more than one bend in the braces? I could do a lot to give myself room by setting them outward, downward and finally inward toward the front hoop. The braces that are in there now do have one outward bend. Your thoughts?

Yet another idea is to set the downward brace at 30 deg. and weld it to another full length brace that runs from the main hoop to the front hoop. Your thoughts?

There's plenty of cars out there (Regional and National) that don't meet
these requirements, BTW. Not all of them were signed off by a PE either
so make sure you check everything on your car before
modifying/homologating.

I figured that and that's why I'm here asking all the questions Steve. And I thank you and all the other who have taken the time to clarify this for me. <bow>

I know darn well, I would be the guy who would be chosen to make an example of, and I would be sent home. I don't want that, but I really want to get some more room so I'm not bunched up like a little ball 8-)
