Interesting, Ingegerd. I once checked a person, who claimed to have
been initiated by Maharishi in the early years in Germany. He said
that he went to the lecture, and after the lecture, Maharsishi stood
near the door and whispered the mantra into the ear of
everyone.Despite my not inquiring about it, he suddenly told me his
mantra, which was Raam. I have friends who initiate for the movement
in India, and they did it with puja, but they did collective
initiations. I think that means doing puja together with about 10
people, and then giving mantras individually. I think that's also
the way they did it in the Phillipines. But everybody I know agrees
that this doesn't work as well, as doing it individually. Once
Maharishi did a collective initiation in Nepal, I think end of 1974,
where he initiated 20.000 people at one stroke. He did a collective
puja on stage, and the mantra thing they did over earphones, with a
special tape-machine, that had several tapes running at the same
time, with different audio exits. But he never repeated it again. I
heard the follow up was difficult. It seems individualinitiation +
puja works best.
