Dear Andrew and other folks trying out System X,

I am using our new iMac with the swiveling screen. It is perfect for
me since I have to get very close to the screen to read it. My wife
is using the G4 and has put System X on it, and the two computers are
networked via ethernet. Since I use Finale, Word 5, Eudora, and
Netscape most of the time, I have decided to boot up in System 9.2 so
that I can retain my old settings, favorites, and file configuration.
I will wait until Finale comes out with a System X version before I
change over to System X. Meanwhile, I am happy with the speed,
stability, and the larger RAM and drive capacity of the new computer.

On the G4 running System X, My wife was able to get her Eudora files,
addresses, and nicknames by finding the folder in System X that the
newest version of Eudora creates when it is installed, then replacing
it with her old Eudora folder. She starts up Eudora from an alias to
her settings file.

If you still want to run System X, Sherlock should be able to find
the folder for Explorer's favorites, and you should be able to
replace it with your older one.

I tried running Finale in Classic mode when I was running System X,
and it froze. After I decided to boot up in System 9.2, everything
works fine.

Your new computer undoubtedly has enough built-in RAM so that
RAMdoubler is unnecessary, and I'm not certain it would even work in
System X.

I agree with Johannes that you would be better off booting up in System 9.

Good luck.

Hal
