pay any attention to getting the music notation right -- none of the
music lines up correctly metrically, and the spacing is quite
strange.


I completely agree. And the weird inverted "3" for one of the triplets, and the brackets have shoulders just before the wings, and there are collisions all over the place, and the inverted curved V that Dennis had doesn't seem to have the right intensity in this version. I don't think this example would stack up against best practice by a professional engraver. Dennis' original example had a few minor flaws, but it was clear, much cleaner, and head-and-shoulders above this version.

But in two hours, probably on a lark, I don't think we should be too hard on this fellow. For professional output, that would be another question.
