Hi all,

This problem has been sporadic for some time. I thought it was due to
a power issue - namely that my powercord was damaged and sparking.
Finally, I got a replacement cord - and all was well again for about
two weeks. Until tonight, that is. Suddenly the Belkin card is not
working to connect me to the net at all. Usually, some futzing with
the cord (before I got a replacement cord), or rebooting of the
computer and other fidgeting would see it working again. Not so
tonight. :-(

The power light comes on initially, but the other light indicating it
is talking to the network never does now. When I check the airport
connection on the Pismo, it says it is "on". I can click it off and on
- but still no joy in truly getting a connection to the network. (My
network consists of a wireless router in my house - nothing major.)

I can connect via ethernet cable and access the net yet on the Pismo.

The processor has run VERY hot every since the incident with my b/f's
cat about 18 months ago. (Cat knocked Pismo to the floor - yielding
broken screen (replaced); odd vertical line in screen that I've been
too chicken to try to correct in case opening it up would severe a
cable that's only partly broken now; and various quirky behavior every
since.) I do have to take breaks when working to cool it down - either
by turning it off, fanning it, or somesuch. Last night, it did get
VERY hot. Did I fry the Belkin card due to heat? It is in the same
area at the processor.

Thoughts on diagnosis? I'm not that quick on understanding a lot of
technical details - so please be gentle in your comments. However, I'm
pretty darned nervy in learning do things if need be. :-)

I'd really like to lose the ethernet tether.

THANKS in advance.
