Bruce - I thank you again for all the good info. It dawns on me that maybe I better slow down and think about spending money on the Pismo.
Possibly it would be wiser to save up for a used g4 powerbooks as replacement? I'd been dreaming over having one. Maybe the time is near. Maybe the Pismo should retire. It has never been the same after its encounter with the cat. For the price of the sdd hard drive, and other probable required replacement parts, I might be at the same price point as the G4.
