It all amounts to whether you want to spend the extra
money . Since USB 2 is gaining alot of ground and
appears to be equally fast if not faster, you might as
well consider getting firewire/usb/usb 2 combo.

 But USB cards are so cheap anymore that you could buy
one if you didn't have any use for Firewire now and
buy a combo card when you actually have use for one.
By that time they might be cheaper. You would have the
disadvantage of not being able to test the combo card
to make sure it is working right. Getting a rev B rom
dimm to be able to use Master/slave might be a better
solution if you wanted to use extra hard drives but
finding one and one at a reasonable price might not be
easy.
