Yeah, check to be sure the equipment is new. My Olympus C-2100 UZ was labeled as "factory reconditioned." Not remanufactured; reconditioned. I knew this before I bought it. The camera was originally sold to a vendor in TX that went belly up and Olympus bought the cameras back and had to label them "reconditioned" which meant only that they opened the box, made sure all the accessories where in there and the camera worked and then sold it. When I bought the camera a couple of years ago it was already "yesterday's news" so finding a brand new one was unlikely. I did not get an extended warranty and have had no problems with. It came with a 90 day warranty.

Check some other vendors. 90 day seems pretty short for a new piece of equipment
My Olympus D490Z was sold as reconditioned and I heard a similar description of it's history. About the only thing about it was that the batteries it came with seemed not to last long (they were lithium and didn't last as long as a set of alkalines). Other than that it has worked great for about two years now. I didn't get an extended warranty (I don't know if one was available). It too had a 90 day warranty.
