I wish someone could help with the 'disconnecting' of my computer since I switched to OSX.
It is happening to my daughters computer too.

We are about to go back to OS9 because this is way to time consuming to sit for hours waiting for the stupid thing to disconnect, or restart to make it stop disconnecting.

I think you need to explain more before anyone can help you.
What do you mean by 'disconnecting'? Frozen cursor? Beach ball spinning forever?
Which version of OSX are you & daughter running? Which machines do you have? How much memory do they have.
What peripherals are attached? Have you upgraded your machines lately? If yes what? etc. etc.
Nah, you don't want to go back to OS9 - especially when you can run classic.
