I upgraded from the 10.2.3 to the 10.2.8 in hopes this disconnecting madness would stop.
But, with my first connection using 10.2.8, I was disconnected.

This happens to us... at least 10-20 times a day.

No peripherals are attached. When we need to use something, we will plug it in, but even those drivers have only recently been installed and this disconnecting problem has been going from the very first day of installing OSX.

We did not have this problem with OS9.

We do have a bad internet server(dial up modem), which would disconnect us when they had big problems(maybe once a week or once a month), but my *other* daughter who is still using OS9 on her ibook, refuses to upgrade to OSX from seeing our problems. She never gets disconnected, and we are in the same house.

Kim:
Sorry to hear about your dial-up/modem problem. (Not ready to move up to DSL or cable yet?)
My family switched from DSL to cable early this year & are very happy with its speed bump and solid internet connection.
With DSL, we used to have dropped connection all the time. Before that we had dial-up - nothing but problems.
Perhaps other G-listers might be able to help you. (Sorry, I'm not that technical)
In the meantime, here is a link that you might find it helpful.

Good luck.
