Just went through this myself with some off-topic stuff about 3 weeks ago.
Bought some photo gear for $122.50+shipping.  Knew that it had some minor
issues, but didn't realize that the shutter curtains had been warped then
bent back into shape, and that the light meter didn't work at all.  Emailed
the seller, telling him that I wasn't upset, but was a little disappointed
with the condition.  Asked if he'd take it back, since it wasn't mentioned
in the auction as being an AS IS sale.  Got a response saying that it was
an AS IS sale, but that he'd refund $30.  Left feedback saying "Item
received, thank you".  Have yet to see the $30 refund in my PayPal account.
Got positive feedback in response, but no refund.  The rest of the time,
I've had pretty good experiences with eBay...  Out of the 330 transactions
I've done since 2001, this has been the only time when I've had a bad deal.
