As you might, or might not know, entombed went down this path. Jason Allen 
originally programmed it with SAPI support only. After others asked for 
screen reader support did he add those features. And, jaws was the worst as 
I understand it. but with the help of Che martin, he was able to smooth out 
the rough edges. now entombed has support for SAPI, window eyes, and jaws.

I don't want to speak for Che, but if you were to ask, he might lend a hand 
with the way bgt works with jaws.

You are quite correct. The Jaws API is very limited in its functionality and
so I'm not very keen on adding it to my engine (especially considering the
DirectInput bug as well), but a lot of people are requesting it so I think
I'll have to do it in the end. Smile.
