I have bellsouth DSL, and it works fine for me.  I also have the Alcatel 
Speed Touch Home.  Unlocking the NAT features was a bitch, but once I 
got that done,  it was smooth sailing.  Appaerently, bellsouth deems it 
necessary to lock out the pppoe settings tab before they send you the 
modem.  And even if you didn't want to deal with that, you could use 
roaring penguin pppoe.  Sorry if I missed something, but you can use 
dhcp on your home network, but you won't get that from Bellsouth, they 
use pppoe, one of the dumbest inventions I've ever came across.
