Hi Kory,
I suspect that you can run DYNDNS using a daemon on your machine to
update the IP address - I haven't done it because the Netgear router
takes care of it for me. Likewise, since the Netgear box handles the
NAT and port forwarding, I haven't bothered to try and get the modem
to do it.
However, if all you want is one machine connected to the net then
what you're proposing should work fine if you don't want to run any
services - your system will be "live" on the net so you should check
your systems security settings - note too that the SpeedTouch modem
will come with a default admin password so you'll want to reset that
too before some free-spirited soul does it for you ;-) - you should
find a booket in with the modem that will give you the IP
configuration information and Bellsouth DNS addresses.
