Managing colors does of course belong into the core but I would like to keep the implementation out of the core. The idea is to be able to use different color management systems and not to restrict ourselves to lcms. GEGL seems to offer just the right level of abstraction that would be needed here. That's why it seems like a nice idea to use it.
