I suppose so, but depending on the campain parameters there might be a more general spell, that either the opposing mage casts, or that exists as ancient enchantment coincidently in just that place.

Or if that has not been contradicted earlier in the campain, the spell or enchantment might be cast by a dragon (or fitting substitute) and they are that wise, intelligent and ancient creatures, that for their magic, everything with an IQ less then 18 counts as animal.

Speaking about ancient enchantments, it might that a previous owner was a great archmage, who could not be bothered to close the door, but was annoyed at leaven being blown in, so he made an enchantment that teleports any airborn object into the rubbishbin outside. That should also make part of the reverse missles obsolete.
