Except that window-eyes only works with firefox an dinternet explorer. Hopefully the version will expand that.

to be honest with you all here, i agree with you keith, yes, but too, i have noticed issues with the internet n win eyes, but it doesn't seem to be at fault of win eyes, but at fault of the website designer, and or the corperation/bank/company who owns the site. personally i will never change over to a free screen reader or even back to jaws, because i still find win eyes to be the most stabel no matter the scripts. they are here to simpley help us all out n give us the freedom to reporgram where we see fit.the problems you mention are cross platform, because i have had issues on vinix, n mac, n windows, etc... with some sites. sometimes trying the mobile site works very well too, but not all sites have a mobile. n now some food for thought. if we all decide that one particular program doesn't work, and attempt to boycot, or just not recomend it, and say 2 updates down the road, the program you are recomending to others does and encounters the same problems, then what. just some food for thought. keep our minds open, and if we have issues with one site in one program, try the same site in a different browser. there are many of these out there. thank you This email may contain personal identifyable information. Also NVDA doesn't work with a number of applications I have to use on the job every day. NVDA is a nice program and I'm glad that it works for people, but it is also taking on the easier and newer challenges which are generally easier to address. It scares me some that if enough people use NVDA rather than buying something like Window-Eyes, some of us are going to simply be out of jobs because we will have lost the support of more complex or less mainstream applications. I don't know the answer to this, but
it raises serious questions.

Best regards,

Hi Keith and all.
I am in the same position as you except I never bought a SMA in the
first place and not sure if I will either unless the next major release
entices me to do so. I use NVDA nearly full time, and also have
Window-Eyes scripting turned off. I only bought Window-Eyes because of
the Remote Assistance feature, which I cannot use in the demo, fair
enough. So yes, unless the next major version is decent enough I can see
myself putting my money towards donating to NVDA.

Can I start by saying I have been a window-eyes user since version 4.0
and up until version 6.x I found it more or less met all of my
requirements.

In recent times, however, I am having more and more issues when using
the net.

My main issues are, pages constantly reloading, regardless of the
autoload settings and links and onclicks seem often to be invisible to
window-eyes.

I find that now, in order to make full use of the internet, I have to
use nvda most of the time.

As my sma has no more upgrades left, I now have to decide whether to
renew it or donate the ammount I would have spent to nvda.

I am wondering how window-eyes can have, seemingly, fallen so far behind.

I know that there is the suggestion that window-eyes will perform better
in some applications and this may well be so but with the internet
playing such a huge parte in most people's lives, surely, this should
work.

Also, I believe that previously, as the readme states, window-eyes was
the most stable screenreader out there but this seems to have changed
since the introduction of scripting. I now have all scripting turned off
just to try and make window-eyes the most stable screenreader.

I do not usually send much to this list but I am really not sure that I
can consider spending any more on the product when there seem to be so
many issues on the internet.

I hope that for those of us who feel unable to continue with an sma at
present, there will be a chance to upgrade again at a reasonable cost if window-eyes can return to the quality product that us old-time users are
used to.

Just thinking aloud and as a final thought, bearing in mind how far nvda
seems to have come in its short life, could it be time to consider
making window-eyes open source so that it can get the development it
needs to keep up with the changing technologies.

Hope noone has been offended by any of this but having spent the evening trying to navigate my online banking site, I needed to let off some steam.

Regards

Keith Barrett
