This and other problems would disappear > with good addons directory. Actually, no it wouldn't. Though it might help to rectify some of the *other* issues, this particular conflict would persist. I don't think we plan to discontinue core extensions even when the addon directory is up and running. Since we won't be doing so, core extensions will continue to have the same rules.
